Unrivaled will avoid airing games on Sundays to prevent direct clashes with the Super Bowl. However, its games will coincide with the college football national championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame on Monday night, another potential obstacle for the league’s viewership.
In this context, Unrivaled’s president, Alex Bazzell, acknowledges the uphill climb ahead. “We aren’t expecting WNBA viewership numbers,” Bazzell said. “What we’re trying to do is get better from week to week, put out a great product, focus on the athletes. If we do that, I think good things will happen.”
Bazzell remains optimistic about the league’s potential for growth, but he’s realistic about the challenges. “We put ourselves in a great position to be successful right away. But it’s a marathon. We’re not running out there from Day 1 trying to get millions of viewers out of the gate.”

Unrivaled’s season will run for nine weeks, wrapping up on St. Patrick’s Day. Throughout this brief period, the league will constantly be competing with the NBA, NHL, college basketball, and soccer games. “We have some time to build this and get this momentum rolling,” Bazzell said. “I think we’ll catch our stride between the Super Bowl and March Madness. But we’ll be here for a while.”
